Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli is the most famous Italian singer in the world.
He has recorded several operas and 16 albums of pop and classical music.
Andrea Bocelli was born in La Sterza, a hamlet of Lajatico, in the province of Pisa.
Visually impaired since birth due to a congenital glaucoma, at the age of six Andrea entered the college, in Reggio Emilia, to learn reading in Braille. Andrea Bocelli completely lost his sight at the age of twelve, following a ball over his eyes during a soccer game.
Graduated in Law at the University of Pisa and graduated in Opera Singing at the Giacomo Puccini Conservatory of Music in La Spezia.
After working for a year as an assistant in a law firm, Bocelli decided to leave that career to devote himself completely to singing, taking private lessons. Voice of tenor, his notoriety began in 1993, when he sang the duet Miserere con Zucchero, to then consolidate with Il mare calmo della sera, signed by Zucchero, with which he won in Sanremo in 1994 among the Nuove Proposte. Later he sang with many other well-known international performers, including Luciano Pavarotti, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez, Céline Dion, Christina Aguilera, John Miles, Marta Sánchez, Stevie Wonder, Hélène Ségara, Giorgia, Sarah Brightman, Laura Pausini, Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige and Ariana Grande.

On March 2, 2010 his name was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in the field of international music.

Every year Andrea Bocelli holds his concert in Lajatico, his native town, in the fascinating Teatro del Silenzio.
And also this year there were eleven thousand. ‘Ali di libertà’, the theme of this edition, is inspired by Leonardo’s five hundredth anniversary.
