March 25 is the national day dedicated to Dante Alighieri, it's the day when the great poet began his descent into Hell and found himself "in a dark forest".

For the occasion, many online initiatives have been created in Italy and around the world. The 700dantefirenze site collects over sixty events on the calendar.

The exhibition “Dante 700 - Santa Maria Novella is a portrait of Dante and the poet's places in Massimo Sestini's photographs "organized by MUS.E and promoted by the Municipality of Florence and the Florentine Civic Museums. The images depict the places where Dante lived or those of his Comedy, reconstructed using techniques experimental and unconventional photographic, giving us an unprecedented look at the poet.

The sculpture 'Trees in verse' by Giuseppe Penone installed in Piazza della Signoria, about 22 meters high, is the largest work ever placed outdoors in the center of Florence "upon the tree that liveth by its summit, And aye bears fruit, and never loses leaf”(vv. 29-30, Canto XVIII, Paradiso, Divine Comedy).

The 'Dante's Walks' also begin in Florence. Free tours, in small groups, to retrace the streets of Florence in the footsteps of Dante ... perhaps with the In Toscana con Dante App which offers online and face-to-face guided tours in Florence and Tuscany.
