Tailor-made bike tours starting from Casolare Le Terre Rosse

The Tuscan countryside is enchanting and diverse, ideal for exploring nature on two wheels. Riding through gentle hills, fragrant vineyards, and medieval villages, you'll uncover hidden gems—and our hotel is the perfect starting point!

At Casolare Le Terre Rosse, we offer tailored services for cycling enthusiasts: from a warm welcome for you and your bike, to facilities such as secure storage and a workshop area for minor repairs. We even offer e-bike rentals for extra support on tougher routes. Plus, our Komoot account is an invaluable guide to cycling Tuscany, with routes crafted specifically for cyclists and categorised by distance, trail type, and skill level.

Here are three of our top routes to get you started.

Easy route: San Gimignano loop

Perfect for a leisurely ride, this 20 km route takes you to the renowned medieval town of San Gimignano, with its iconic towers, just minutes from our hotel.
Starting from the Casolare, you’ll follow countryside roads lined with vineyards and olive groves. With mostly flat terrain and gentle inclines, you can enjoy the stunning scenery without too much effort. Once in San Gimignano, take time to explore the town or visit a local wine bar for a tasting.

Intermediate route: the hills of Val d'Elsa

At 35 km, this route suits cyclists with some experience who wish to explore the heart of the Val d’Elsa. Nestled between Florence and Siena, the Val d’Elsa is one of Tuscany’s most captivating areas, with landscapes of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, and historic villages. From the Casolare, you’ll tackle a mix of climbs and descents, passing picturesque villages like Certaldo, famous for Boccaccio’s house, and Badia a Passignano.
Dirt roads and vineyard views give an authentic feel of the Tuscan countryside. Remember to bring plenty of water and take breaks to savour the views.

Advanced route: San Donato to Volterra

For seasoned cyclists seeking a challenge, this 50 km route from San Donato to Volterra is ideal. Starting from the Casolare, you’ll encounter steep climbs and stretches of dirt road, leading to the stunning town of Volterra, one of Tuscany’s oldest Etruscan sites. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of surrounding hills and valleys, making every pedal stroke worth it.

At Hotel Casolare Le Terre Rosse, every cycling enthusiast can find their ideal route. Book your stay at our bike-friendly hotel and prepare for an unforgettable adventure in Tuscany.
